How to size a 2 × 2 inch passport photo

Published by MyDocverter · Published and updated

Create a crop reference while following the issuing authority’s rules.

Read the authority’s requirements

Select the appropriate preset and follow its linked authority source. A 2 × 2 inch crop is 50.8 × 50.8 mm; this tool exports it at 600 × 600 pixels with 300 DPI metadata. Dimensions alone do not establish acceptance: capture conditions, facial expression, head size, background and application type also matter.

Align the crop

Upload a sharp, recent portrait with the required physical background. Local face detection suggests a crop; its face box does not measure the crown-to-chin head height. Adjust zoom and position manually against the preview guides. Verified rule references retain the original background and disable rotation and background editing.

Review the copy

Download the JPEG or PNG and inspect it at full size. Preview guides are excluded from the download. The tool does not beautify the face or guarantee compliance. Some authorities prohibit home printing or require a professional photographer; follow the selected source even if the tool can generate a reference sheet.
